SHIFT is looking for committee members

Be at the helm of sustainable action in Nillumbik by joining our organising committee. Help decide the direction of SHIFT by sharing your passion for sustainability and making a commitment to grassroots change at the local level.

Who are we?

At SHIFT we’re passionate about the environment, community resilience, and promoting a healthier, happier way of living. We’re a hands-on group that loves to run community-based workshops, campaigns and events in all things sustainable living.

At our core, we are:

  • community driven
  • positivity centred
  • solution focused
  • action oriented.

Our organisation is growing, and we’d love to find some more likeminded folk to join the organising committee. Check out our About Us page to see more about our aims.

Who are we looking for?

We’re currently a group of five dedicated women, and would love some male voices on our committee. We’re also keen to welcome younger team members 18+ who are interested in developing community and environmental initiatives for audiences aged 16 to 24.

We’re especially keen to hear from anyone with skills and knowledge in how sustainability intersects with areas like creative arts, economics, health, building and DIY, etc. At SHIFT, we believe sustainable living is a holistic undertaking with benefits across all aspects of life, from human health and wellbeing to creative arts and economic policy; so people interested in diverse areas would be a wonderful addition to the team.

That said, if you have no special skills but have loads of enthusiasm to engage with the community, plus a burning passion for sustainable living, we’d love you aboard as well.

What’s the commitment?

Interested people would need to commit some time to monthly meetings and be keen to take a hands-on approach to designing, organising, promoting, and running events. We’re after motivated, driven, productive people who like to both organise and get their hands dirty. If you’re super interested but don’t have time to commit fully, contact us anyway. There are bound to be loads of ways people can be involved on a more casual basis.

We do a lot of our communicating through email, so committee members need to be able to monitor messages to keep campaigns and initiatives flowing smoothly. We’ll never need an answer in 5 minutes, but a response to important messages and decision-making chains would be appreciated within 24 hours.
