About the workshop
Children and adults alike are invited to join us as we turn textile waste into a beautiful community wall hanging. Learn how to create flowers, leaves & butterflies from fabric waste. These upcycled ornaments will then be attached to a wall hanging where they will turn a bare tree into a blossoming tree, which represents the community working together to solve a problem (in this case textile waste) and the beauty it creates in the process.
About the presenter
The team at A Fitting Connection have over 20 years experience in fashion and textile design and production. They’re also aware that the fashion and textiles industry is one of the world’s greatest polluters, and that the waste created by fast fashion is a global problem.
The A Fitting Connection ‘Fundraising with Purpose’ initiative offers a sustainable, feel-good way for communities to raise money while helping divert clothing from landfill. It teaches schools, kindergartens, sporting clubs and non-profits how to turn pre-loved clothing and textiles into new items that can be shared or sold.
