Nillumbik Repair Cafe

2nd Saturday of each month, 9.30am to 12.30pm

Click the link below to visit our Humanitix page and see the dates of upcoming repair cafes. You can also use this link to book your item in for repair.

Booking isn’t essential, and you’re more than welcome to just turn up on the day. However, booking helps us work out in advance if your item is fixable, and make sure we have the right fixer available. When you book, you’ll be asked a little bit of information about your broken item to let us know what’s coming along. Please note that if things are busy, booked items will be prioritised over walk ins.

About the Repair Cafe

Nillumbik Repair Cafe began as a partnership between SHIFT and two members of Nillumbik’s Women’s Leadership and Connections Program, Rosie Morgan and Tanya Thornton.  It is held monthly at the Hurstbridge Hub, in conjunction with one of the Edible Hub food swap and shares.

Repair cafes are a place you can bring your broken items to receive a new lease on life. At the repair cafe, volunteer fixers perform simple repairs on all kinds of everyday items that would otherwise be thrown out and sent to landfill. Attendees sit with the repairer while they talk you through what they’re doing, making it a place to have a chat, meet new people, and learn valuable DIY skills that can save money and reduce waste.

Items that can be repaired at the cafe include:

  • electronics and devices
  • computers
  • clothing
  • manchester
  • bikes
  • jewellery
  • tools
  • musical instruments
  • toys
  • mechanical items
  • garden equipment
